Christina Aguilera doesnt have a close relationship with her biological father, Fausto Aguilera. The now 31-year-old singer has said that the distant relationship was due to his emotionally and physically abusive ways.

Two years ago in 2010, Aguilera told Latina Magazine that she and her fathers relationship was nonexistent.

I'm in a place in my life where I just don't see a reason for it, she said of reconnecting, at the time. "To remember the chaos that [my mother] went through, the abuse it's amazing how much you can trick your mind into surviving when you have to."

In the same interview, though, she didnt count out forgiving her father.

"There's always room for forgiveness," she had said. "And I do forgive--but you grow up and make choices for your family."

It looks like The Voice judge is ready to forgive. In the new March issue of Latina Magazine, the singer and mother to 4-year-old Max, reveals that as she grows older, she feels that reconnecting with her father may help her bring closure on the past.

Ive talked about how rough things were for me and Im sure hes heard it. He cant be thrilled about it. So maybe one day we can do lunch, she said. Im 31 years old now. Maybe its time.

The last time Christina saw her father was reportedly in 1999, after 12 years. In a past Rolling Stone interview she recalled him apologizing for the past, but he was still a stranger to her.
