In recent years there have been quite a few Photoshop Scandals, and Christina Aguilera seems to be the latest victim. NBCs The Voice star just released some new print ads for her new fragrance, Royal Desire. Unfortunately, fans are finding the ads a royal mess. While the pictures are believed to be two years ol! d, they are now an inaccurate, distorted, much thinner than now portrayal of the star, and have some MAJOR Photoshop flaws.
This recent Photoshop blunder came on the heels of another photoshop blunder that had legal ramifications. LOreal filed a complaint against Diors print ad for some mascara featuring Natalie Portman, stating it over-promised the effect the product would have, and eventually got the ad banned in UK. This new ad from Christina Aguilera does pretty much the same exact thing. The ad features a ridiculously slimmer Christina-were talking 40 plus pounds slimmer, and has obvious Photoshop mistakes-her chin is shaved down, her arm looks like something out of a sci-fi movie with a completely unnatural looking bend and some weird wrist mess, and her other arm seems to boast two elbows. As we travel down, she seems to have shadows of something on her hip area thats been blended into the background, and theres an odd divot in her leg. It just looks weird.
Were proud of Christina for embracing her curves, and not succumbing to the unhealthy standards in Hollywood. However, her ad leaves people wondering why her camp couldnt afford a new photo shoot, or if they want to perpetuate the Unreal Aguilera. I think everyone agrees that some Photoshop modification is necessary on images when theres hair in someones face, etc., but this image, along with others that have brought controversy over the years, show that weve gone WAY beyond the realm of normal. Back in July, Seventeen Magazine promised they would put a stop to altering models body shapes and face shapes in a response to an 8th graders outcry. While the ads in the magazine dont promise the same honesty, the magazine is holding true to its promises. We all wish that everyone would step down the Photoshop a little, dont we?
What do! you think of the altered image? Do you think media should try to limit the amount of modifications they do to pictures?Want more? Follow our tweets on Twitter and Like us on Facebook!
