The Voice Lee Koch: I know being with Christina Aguilera is odd match

The Voice contestant Lee Koch has said he knows being teamed with Christina Aguilera on the show might be an "odd match-up" but he predicts it will work well.

The baker joined Team Christina on Monday night (February 27) following his blind audition performance of 'Like A Rolling Stone', where he played both the guitar and harmonica.

Speaking to reporters, he said: "I know it's an odd match-up but I think that makes for more entertaining viewing. She does some bluesy kind of stuff, I do some bluesy kind of stuff, so I think we'll find a middle ground and do some sweet stuff."

Reflecting on how long it took him to get a reaction during his blind audition, he said: "I did get a little nervous as it was coming down to the final seconds of my song. When Christina hit her button it was definitely a shock and a little bit surreal.

"I didn't realise I pointed to her until I saw it there on screen. I thought I'd just kept playing when she turned around. It was a shock, but great, and I'm thrilled to work with Christina."

Koch told reporters that he didn't know how many spaces were left on the coaches' teams when he began his audition, although he knew he had been given one of the later audition dates.

"There are a few days of auditioning, I'm not sure how they show it on TV, but when we're told we will be on one of the later days I think we kind of assume it will be down to th! e wire," she said.

"We don't know how many spots are left, there could be one, there could be five, but we know naturally there will only be a few left.

"I think it is a little more nerve-wracking for the people who have to go towards the end but that's the only way it can work. It's just how the cards are dealt."

As for how he feels going into the battle rounds, he said: "Everybody on our team is awesome so I've kind of gotten past the nervousness.

"Whoever I end up with will be fun to be on stage with because they're all good people. I'm not nervous, more excited to see what the song is and who my partner will be."

The Voice airs Mondays at 8/7c on NBC
