'The Voice': Christina Aguilera mocks Adam Levine's new fragrance

The Voice star Christina Aguilera has mocked rival coach Adam Levine over the release of his new fragrance.

The Maroon 5 star announced this week that he is to launch signature scent '222' for men and women in May 2013.

"Adam is a performer with tremendous charisma, both on stage and on TV," said Ilia Lekach of ID Perfumes. "Endeavouring to capture that in a bottle has thus far been very exciting and we're certain the final products will be even more so."

Soon after the development, Aguilera took to Twitter and pointed out the singer's hypocrisy regarding celebrity perfumes by linking back to a post of his from March 2011.

Levine wrote at the time: "I also would like to put an official ban on celebrity fragrances. Punishable by death from this point forward."

Aguilera, who has four scents bearing her name, continued: "Haha @AdamLevine. What a difference a year makes... Welcome to the celebrity fragrance family!"

Levine launched the '222' fashion line in 2010 and recently established a record label in the same name, swiftly signing Glee's Matthew Morrison.

The Voice airs Monday nights at 8/7c on NBC.
