Ginny Blackmore, 'Bones': Lyric Video Premiere

New Zealand native Ginny Blackmore has scored songwriting credits on engrossing tracks by Christina Aguilera and Adam Lambert, and now the Epic Records artist has a devastating new single of her own. "Bones," Blackmore's debut solo single, was officially released last February, and you can watch the new lyric video for the track exclusively on Billboard.com:

After she began writing her own songs as a teenager in New Zealand, Blackmore moved to London with a self-produced demo at the age of 19 and scored a publishing deal with Sony/ATV. Aguilera then recruited the songwriter to Los Angeles and asked to record her ballad "Sing For Me" for her own album, "Lotus." After impressing Tricky Stewart and writing the song "By The Rules" with Lambert while in L.A., Blackmore began showcasing on her own, and was eventually called by Epic Records Chairman & CEO Antonio "L.A." Reid in November 2011.

"I was packing my bags at the hotel, and my manager called me and said, 'What are you doing? I'm picking you up in 10 minutes. You're going to showcase for L.A. Reid, right now," Blackmore tells Billboard. "I walked into L.A. Reid's office, sang 'Bones' for him, and I stayed in the office for six to eight hours, and I signed [to Epic] that night before I left the building."

"Bones" had previously been written and recorded in one night while Blackmore was staying in a studio apartment in Los Angeles; the singer says she was having a "girly, emotional moment," and was pouring out her feelings while drinking a bottle of wine by herself. The wrenching single was released last month as the lead track on a three-song single, along with "Hello World" and Blackmore's own version of "Sing For Me," now titled "SFM."

Blackmore says that the next few months will consist of heavy radio promo and more shows, and adds, "The album's in the finishing stages. I think we're trying to feel it out and let it grow naturally." Although she hopes to see a full-length released on Epic by July, Blackmore says that she's just enjoying the ride toward her solo debut. "It's been a really long journey, getting from New Zealand to here, and just trying to figure out how somebody does that," she says.
