Speaking to NBC about her new music, Aguilera explained: "I'm recording my new album right now and I'm really excited because I've found myself in a very introspective stage in my life.

"I've learned and have experienced so much in leaps and bounds and it's really a journey of growth for me continuously throughout my career."

She added: "I'm excited to put it all down on paper through my lyrics and my voice as it comes from a very truthful, honest and raw place."

Aguilera will return to The Voice as a coach when the second season begins on NBC in the US on February 5.
